'Cumbrian Alchemy' Printing at Allander

Robert Williams and I went to Allander Print in Edinburgh to pass on press the Cumbrian Alchemy book that we have both been working on. The book is an outcome of an Arts Council funded project of the same name by Robert Wiliams and American artist Bryan McGovern Wilson. Allander were extremely attentive to our needs, making subtle adjustments to the colour. It was great to leave the printers having seen the cover and several plates printed to our satisfaction, stacked and ready for finishing. The book should be back from the printers in two weeks.

First Sighting of 'All Sided Games' Logo

First sighting of the logo that I have designed for Collective Gallery's All Sided Games project, a series of off-site commissions, placing contemporary artists in sporting venues built or used for the Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 Commonwealth Games and in venues to be used in the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. The logo is seen here in a leaflet designed by the wonderful Sarah Tripp.

Press Passing at Arc Colourprint, Edinburgh

I have been designing a two volume book, Things Unseen and Things Unspoken, for artists Anne Bevan and Andrea Roe, to be published by the Pier Arts Centre in Orkney. This week Anne, Andrea and myself spent three days at Arc Colourprint in Edinburgh, press passing the book – plate by plate – under the patient, attentive, and experienced guidance of Ewan, one of the expert team at Arc. The book is being printed on 170gsm Revive 100 Offset with a 16 page colour section in Andrea's book, Things Unspoken, printed on Revive 100 Gloss 170gsm. The covers are on Colorplan 270gsm, Scarlet and New Blue, and are being gloss foil blocked with the title of each book.

Front and Back Cover for 'unsmoothmaking' Publication

I have been working on unsmoothmaking, a publication that accompanies an exhibition at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow, and which documents a month long artists' residency in October, 2012, at the artist run initiative Lothringer13_Laden in Munich. Psykick Dancehall, Giuseppe Mistretta and Sarah Forrest presented new video works at Transmission; the exhibition opened with the launch of the publication on 15 June.

unsmoothmaking is a collaborative work that operates as a guidebook or manual for future spoken word performances, some of which were presented throughout the opening afternoon event. The publication was launched at Lothringer13_Laden on the 22 June.

More images of the publication to follow.
